According to Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, fans can expect new material from their favorite band sometime in 2009. As he said in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, “I didn’t stop writing since the last record, I’ve got a lot of material, and I know the other guys have a good amount of stuff too. It’s going to be fun.”

When frontman Chester Bennington sat down with MTV News this past week, he tried explaining what to expect from the still to be recorded album. "I can tell you that it's our first stab — and perhaps our only stab, depending on how good we do — at creating a concept record, so there are a lot of things that are going to either free us up in a lot of ways or restrict us in a lot of ways. In terms of describing what it sounds like ... it sounds like peanut butter and jelly. It's sounding delicious," he said. According to Bennington, the whole band will gather before this December to record the album, which he estimates will take 6 weeks or so to complete.

No word on a release date or album title as of yet as Shinoda said his recordings are in very early stages. "The songs that we did in the last batch for Minutes to Midnight that did not end up on the record could end up on a record in the future. The good news is we have a ton of material," Shinoda said.

The upcoming album will be the follow up to Minutes to Midnight, the band's latest multiplatinum record. Minutes to Midnight debuted at number one in the US and various other countries worldwide.

Linkin Park is also set to release Road To Revolution, a live set recorded earlier this year at the Milton Keynes National Bowl on. The CD/DVD will be available in stores on November 25th.
